"Introducing The GAPP Awards – The pinnacle of excellence in the South African Print, Packaging and Signage industry.

Creating an environment where printers are driven to consistently improve their quality and processes in order to excel. The South African Printing, Packaging and Signage Industries are mature markets, which are on par with their international counterparts.

There is a need for a competition to showcase the capabilities of local printers. It is a full-spectrum competition that represents all sectors and types of print.

The GAPP Awards covers 54 categories of print spanning all substrates and all

types of print from litho printing, signage, gravure and flexo as well as all types of end product from stationery through to packaging."

"Bronze, Silver and Gold trophies and Achiever certificates will be presented in each category according to the results of the judging. Printers, their clients or agencies can enter work but it is the printer who will win the Award.

The competition is the intellectual property of Sentient Publishing and is being run under the banner of The GAPP, being the magazine with the broadest reach and coverage of the full printing industry."

  1. 3D Printing

Additive manufacturing or 3D printing including all types and techniques of 3D printed items such as filament printing or paper layering etc. Techniques include Vat Polymerization, Material Extrusion, Material Jetting, Binder Jetting, Powder Bed Fusion, Direct Energy Deposition and Sheet Lamination. Entry requirements: A minimum of two samples of the printed product. Also required is an explanation of the purpose of the product, whether as a product in its own right or as a prototype for something that will be produced later or as a decorative item.
